“As Hindus there are plenty of
things that we can be proud of Srimad Bhagavat Gita is the first on the list”.
Gita Jeyanthi is the birthday of Bhagavat Gita. It’s calculated on Shukla Ekadashi in the Tamil month of Margazhi.
Gita Jeyanthi was celebrated in our school on 18th December. Man. Radha Didi, Dhakshin Pranth Sankatak was the chief guest. Our correspondent Sri.S.K.Subramanian and our principal presided over the function. The programme was started with lighting the lamp by Man. Radha didi. Bharatha Natyam on Krishna song was performed by students. Our teachers Mrs. Vijaya Lakshmi and Mrs. Muthu Deiva Nayaki read the message in English & Tamil which was sent by Man. Nivedita Didi who is the vice president of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari. Translation in Tamil was very superb. Radha didi appreciated the teacher who explained in Tamil.
Our teacher Mrs. Lalitha Parameshwari chanted the slokas from 17th chapter in Bhagavsat Gita. Students followed the chanting. Man. Radha didi gave the Inspiring speech about the importance of Gita Jeyanthi. In her speech, she insisted the students to know the meaning of the slokas. As they are V.K.V. students, they should be role model to the society. Finally programme was concluded by Kendra prayer.
